SHORT ANIMATION | 2021

CATTS's mission is for young people to feel empowered about their own health, know how to check themselves for signs and symptoms, and encourage them to see a doctor when something doesn’t feel right.

I and my teammates developed a one-minute animation about CATTS. I took part in it as a producer and animator.

As the producer of this project, I was highly involved in the planning and preparation of the production. This includes the organisation and the management of the Teams profile and setting up the Trello profile by ensuring all production materials throughout each stage were uploaded on both platforms and in time for easy access for team members and tutors. I was also responsible for the development and the constant update of our production schedule, where I was planning out the key dates in accordance with the upcoming deadlines. The tasks were mapped in colours corresponding to each member’s part of the process. I took notes during tutorials on behalf of the team and made sure there was an active communication system during the whole process.  Furthermore, one of my main tasks as the producer was to break down the animation and put it back together in a coherent shot list where I list the shots and assets each crew member worked on.

In terms of my creative contribution to the CATTS project, I was able to make the character designs in Illustrator, so they can be included in our style frames. I took part in preparing the poses for rigging and the actual rigging process in After Effects, DUIK.

Regarding the animation, we separated the work, so each one of us has an equal number of shots. I animated shot 2 and shot 3 (where the cat walks down the street to the GP’s office and jumps in it). I produced two separate versions of these shots, as we wanted to see which one will fit better into the sequence. The animation of those two helped me to learn more about After Effects and to remember how a 2D animation is established with DUIK. In addition, I animated shot 10 (the lump shot), which was also quite interesting for me.
